Indianapolis To Bid For 2018 Super Bowl

Last updated on Wednesday, May 22, 2013

(INDIANAPOLIS) - We could find out next month if Indianapolis will officially make a bid to host Super Bowl 52 in 2018.

Indiana Sports Corporation President Allison Melangton says there will be a meeting next month to discuss whether an official bid will be made. She says she doesn't expect there to be any issues with making a bid and that Indianapolis will be in a good position to go for it.

Melangton says the bid specifications for 2018 will be released in October. She says they'll be able to see then if Indianapolis falls short in any required categories. However, she doesn't expect that will be the case.

If Indy does make a bid, the process for that bid will begin in August.

Melangton says they will look for new creative ways to host a Super Bowl, instead of just rehashing ideas from 2012.
