Last updated on Wednesday, May 29, 2013

(CRAWFORDSVILLE) - Law enforcement officials say human remains have been found in Montgomery County.

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office says they along with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, Indiana State Police and the Montgomery County Coroner's Office executed a search warrant Tuesday at a farm in southeastern Montgomery County after receiving information related to a 1996 homicide investigation in Hamilton County. An arrest and conviction was made in the case without a recovery of a body.

The remains were found on the farm's property. An autopsy on the remains is scheduled for Wednesday in Terre Haute.

Officials aren't releasing any additional information until the autopsy is complete and the remains are identified.
