FOP Pulls Assistance Of David Bisard

Last updated on Friday, May 3, 2013

(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Indianapolis Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #86 will no longer pay for the legal fees of suspended IMPD Officer David Bisard.

The FOP membership voted to rescind Bisard's legal assistance following Bisard's arrest Saturday for drunk driving.

The FOP was paying for Bisard's legal fees for his case stemming from the 2010 crash that killed one motorcyclist and injured two others.

A statement from FOP President Bill Owensby says Bisard will now be responsible for all of his own legal fees moving forward.

Owensby says this decision should not be interpreted as a position regarding Bisard's guilt or innocence in any of the allegations against him. He says it represents a commitment to the trust and responsibility of the FOP's three thousand active and retired members.

Bisard is currently in the Marion County Jail awaiting a bond revocation hearing in Allen County next week.
