Last updated on Thursday, May 23, 2013

(EVANSVILLE) - Indiana State Excise Police officers said they seized 1,175 bootleg DVDs at an Evansville store Tuesday afternoon.

Kara Mattingly of WFIE reports that officers searched Riverside One Stop in the 400 block of E. Riverside Drive, for evidence of fraud, including unauthorized copies of DVDs displayed for sale at the store. These DVDs included movies currently in theatres only and not yet available for retail sale.

Excise officers also cited the store on six unrelated administrative charges, including: possession of smoking paraphernalia, failure to display tobacco certificate, smoking in a prohibited location and three charges related to failure to post various smoking-related signs.

Officers said possible charges related to the bootleg DVDs are pending.

Anyone with information concerning unlawful sales of DVDs may contact the District 5 office at 812-882-1292.
