Dog Rescued After Falling Down 80-Foot Pipe

Last updated on Friday, May 3, 2013

(MIAMI COUNTY). - A dog was rescued after falling down an 80-foot pipe in Miami County on Thursday, despite some tense moments with a neighbor.

According to posts on the Miami County Animal Shelter's Facebook page, the dog fell down a pipe on a neighbor's property Thursday evening.

An animal care and control officer brought in an excavator from Golliher Excavating and offered to dig down and free the dog, but the neighbor initially refused, shelter officials said.

"Totally outraged!! The landowner is REFUSING to allow [the excavator] to dig the pipe up to free this dog!! [The excavator] would be using his equipment and fuel FREE of charge and fix it once he's done!!" the shelter posted. "She doesn't want her drive dug up!! This is private property and we have no authority!"

The neighbor later relented, shelter officials said, and the dog was successfully rescued.

"Rescue complete and she is well!! Woot!!" the shelter posted.

The dog is said to be doing well.
