(COLUMBUS) - Three Columbus police officers saved a man’s life on Sunday night.
Officers used an external defibrillator and CPR to help save a 70-year-old unconscious man. Officers began carrying the device in their patrol cars earlier this year, The Republic reports.
Around 9 p.m. Sunday, Patrolmen Wesley Dodge and Toby Combest and Sgt. Jason Christophel went to the 2800 block of 19th Street and found the man on the floor. The device, which diagnoses abnormal heart rhythms and helps restore a normal rhythm by delivering electrical energy to the heart, was discharged once.
The man was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital.
