(CUMBERLAND) - The small town of Cumberland has come together one day after a fire took the lives of two children, hospitalized four others and displaced several condominium residents.
Drew Blair of WISH TV8 reports that the Cumberland Police Department has temporarily offered its station as a collection site for donations community members are willing to offer.
Area churches started working together with police to determine exactly what is needed for the Eppert family and others in the Raintree Commons complex affected by Monday morning's fire.
The president for Cumberland's town council, Mark Reynold said efforts have been made to provide displaced residents with housing and assistance with any household pets that need care.
The school community grieving the loss of two of its students has taken steps to help students and staff through a difficult time.
The young victims, Genisis Eppert, 9, and her brother Forrest, 8, attended Brookview Elementary, where grief counselors were made available for staff and students, Warren Township Superintendent Dena Cushenberry said. A small memorial for the children could be seen outside the condo on Tuesday.
