Last updated on Tuesday, April 9, 2013

(UNDATED) - A new effort to get more Indiana parents and kids enrolled in health insurance is taking off.

This week is Enroll Indiana Week. Covering Kids and Families Indiana Executive Director David Roos says the effort includes Marion and seven other Central Indiana counties. He says the effort has been ongoing for about 15 years.

Roos says Indiana has 800,000 insured people below the age of 65. He says the goal is get people educated about new programs available. He says the Affordable Care Act is part of that this year.

Roos says most Hoosier children are eligible for extremely low cost coverage. He says there are 64 federally qualified health centers, all of which provide care at low cost, sliding scale basis.
