Rail Service To Link Indianapolis To West Coast

Last updated on Tuesday, April 30, 2013

(INDIANAPOLIS) - A new rail service linking Indianapolis to the West Coast could be good for business.

It will save time and money by bypassing busy Chicago rail yards.

Starting July 1, the Indiana Railroad company will begin partnering with Canadian National Railway to help move goods between Indiana and British Columbia.

Right now, businesses have to pay charges when rail cars sit at bottle-necked Chicago yards. Then they pay to get their items to Indy, usually by truck.

The new partnership will provide direct service to the Circle City three times a week.
