Last updated on Wednesday, April 24, 2013

(GIBSON COUNTY) - State Police have arrested a woman after she allegedly embezzled more than $13,000 from a food program.

Deborah Wolfe, 51, was arrested following a criminal investigation that began in October 2012. Police received information that Wolfe had possibly taken money from the Mission Nutrition Program without authorization.

The program was created to serve nutritious meals to eligible children during summer and school vacation periods - Wolfe has been director since 2010.

The investigation revealed Wolfe used money from the program's account for her personal use. An audit was conducted and determined she allegedly spent more than $13,000.

Wolfe was arrested Tuesday afternoon after she turned herself in at the Gibson County Jail. She has since posted bond.
