(SYRACUSE, Ind.) - Police are searching for two men involved in a home invasion and assault.

Police said they received a 911 call at around 12:35 a.m. Sunday about a man being robbed in the 600 block of North Harrison Street in Syracuse.

The victim, Jeremy Smith, said he heard someone pounding on his back door. When he went to answer the door, two men kicked in the door and attacked him.

Smith told police that the two suspects hit him several times. One of the men was armed with a handgun.

Smith managed to get away and ran to a neighbor's house for help, according to police.

The suspects are described as:

5'8" to 6'0"
Medium builds
Dressed in all black
Wearing ski masks

Smith was taken to Goshen Hospital for treatment. Police said his injuries are non-life threatening.

K-9 units and officers from Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department, Indiana State Police, North Webster and Winona Lake Police Departments responded to the scene and assisted in the search for the suspects.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
