(LAWRENCE) - Officers with the Lawrence Police Department responded to an armed robbery early Saturday morning where a victim was duct taped to a chair and held at gunpoint only to later find out his friend was one of the suspects.

According to a police report, an LPD officer was flagged down in the 5700 block of Devers Drive shortly after 1:30 a.m. by a male individual. He told the officer he had just been robbed by a man with a gun who took his friend, Cheyenne Poole, and was now locked out of his apartment.

The victim told the officer that he and Poole heard a knock of the door and a male suspect, wearing a gray hood and scarf covering his face, entered the apartment with a gun.

The suspect pointed a gun at the two and began demanding money and making threats. It was suggested by the victim that he take an ATM card and withdraw cash. Poole took an ATM card and took out $500.

After returning with the cash, the suspect duct taped the male victim to a chair in the bedroom and held a gun to his forehead, according to the report.

The suspect told the victim he and his friends would be looking for additional cash in the apartment and proceeded to put the victim in a closet on the balcony.

While in the closet, the victim says he was checked on several times, once by an additional suspect - a woman. The suspect then left with Poole.

After they left, the male victim was able to break free and began calling for help. He also noticed an ATM card and his vehicle were missing.

The vehicle was located in a parking lot. Once the officer activated his emergency lights the car sped off and a chase ensued that reached high rates of speed.

The vehicle was stopped and the victim arrived to the scene to identify the two.

The driver was Poole and the passenger was the suspect, identified as Ralph Lopez.

Both were placed under arrest.
