Man Saves Toddler From Drowning

(INDIANAPOLIS) - A 20-month-old was saved Sunday afternoon when a man jumped into the water and pulled the toddler out.

Captain Michael Pruitt with the Wayne Township Fire Department says a 20-month-old got away from family members and went into a pond in the 6800 block of Glenn Meade Drive.

This is in the area of Rockville Road and South Girls School Road on the city's west side.

The call came in shortly before 4:30 p.m.

A man jumped into the pond and pulled the toddler out. CPR was performed and the child came to. The toddler was transported to Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health.

The man was also taken to an area hospital. Their conditions are unknown.
