Man Held In Shooting Of His Brother-In-Law

(NEW CASTLE) - A man died Wednesday after a shooting Tuesday involving a man and his brother-in-law, authorities said.

New Castle police said James Daniels, 18, was rushed to St. Vincent Hospital, where he died after undergoing surgery.

A .40-caliber handgun was recovered from the home at 801 S. Main St., the New Castle Courier Times reported..

Kyle Tackett, 23, Daniels' brother-in-law, was arrested Tuesday on charges of criminal recklessness, pointing a firearm and aggravated battery. Additional charges are pending.

Investigators are working to determine what led to the shooting.

An autopsy will be performed to determine a cause of death for Daniels. Officials said he had been shot once.

Tackett was being held Thursday in the Henry County Jail on $200,000 bond.
