(LOGANSPORT) - A Logansport man has been arrested after the discovery of what one deputy called the largest drug lab he had ever seen.

Fire crews were called to the 500 block of West Linden Avenue in Logansport to the report of a fire. When authorities arrived, they found 65-year-old John J. Rose leaving the home. He said there was no one in the house, according to a release.

Firefighters entered the residence and noticed several items associated with manufacturing meth.

During an investigation on the home, officers later found more than 100 one pot cooking vessels, 155 HCL generators, and more than twenty 55-gallon bags of meth trash.

Officers were collecting evidence for more than seven hours.

The house was a total loss. Investigators say the fire started during the manufacturing of methamphetamine.

Rose left the house while the fire was being extinguished. He was later located at his girlfriend's home and taken to the Cass County Jail.

One deputy said, in his 15 years of law enforcement, he had never encountered a drug lab this large.
