Politicians Seek To Wrapup General Assembly Session

Last updated on Friday, April 26, 2013

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Today’s scheduled to be the final day of the Indiana General Assembly session.

Legislators plan to vote in early evening on a new state budget which calls for a five-percent income tax cut, phased in over the next four years.

Before they reach that vote, they're hoping to finalize agreements on the last few unresolved issues, including financial help for casinos and the motorsports industry, an expansion of school vouchers, and a pause in the implementation of the Common Core curriculum standards.

The legal deadline to wrap things up is Monday night, but the budget agreement announced Thursday means legislators should meet their goal of adjourning early.
