Former Assistant Principal Pleads Guilty To Relationship With 16-Year-Old

Last updated on Saturday, April 20, 2013

(INDIANAPOLIS) - A former assistant principal at Washington High School has pleaded guilty to having an inappropriate relationship with a 16-year-old girl.

Corey Greenwood, 41, pleaded guilty Friday morning to one count of child seduction and one count of obstruction of justice

Greenwood was originally charged with five counts of child seduction and two counts of obstruction of justice after police said he had five sexual encounters with the victim, including one in his school office.

Police said Greenwood sent the girl more than 1,400 text messages, some explicit, which were later recovered by authorities.

Greenwood, who resigned last year, must serve 30 days in jail, serve six years on probation, register as a sex offender and cannot have contact with minor children, except his own son.

Prosecutors said they offered the plea deal so that the 16-year-old would not have to endure a trial.

Greenwood will be formally sentenced May 3.
