(LAGRANGE COUNTY) - A woman had four children and methamphetamine in her car as she led a trooper on a chase in northern Indiana on Friday night, Indiana State Police said.
Jilyan Janelle Snyder, 29, of Hudson, was arrested on several charges, including four counts of neglect of a dependent, after the chase in LaGrange County.
The chase began about 11 p.m. after Senior Trooper Deven Hostetler tried to stop a car for a traffic infraction on County Road 650 North near County Road 1100 East., police said.
"During the short pursuit, the passenger of the vehicle was said to have been throwing items out of his window," ISP Sgt. Ron Galaviz said in a news release.
The driver stopped a few minutes later, resulting in Snyder's arrest.
Police said they found four children, ages 6 to 13, in the vehicle. They were left in the custody of a family member.
The passenger, a 25-year-old man, was not charged.
"An unknown amount of methamphetamine was located inside of Snyder's purse at the time of her arrest," Galaviz said.
In addition to the neglect charges, Snyder was being held Saturday in the LaGrange County Jail on charges of resisting law enforcement and possession of methamphetamine.
Arrest warrants had been issued for Snyder in Noble County on charges of possession of methamphetamine and visiting a common nuisance.
