(INDIANAPOLIS) - The search is on to find a man connected to a brutal quadruple murder - that left two mothers and their babies dead - after he walked away from work release.
Ericka Flye of RTV6 reports that on the night of Jan. 14, 2008, Gina Hunt and her 23-month-old son, and Andrea Yarrell and her 5-month-old daughter were killed in a hail of gunfire as the two women hid behind a bed, clutching their babies.
Tommy Warren wasn't there during the killings, but authorities say he devised the plan that led up to it -- a plan to rob the house of cash and marijuana.
"Tommy Warren was part of the discussion of the initial conspiracy and then actually walked away from it, which is why all we had on him was a conspiracy to commit robbery charge," said Deputy Prosecutor Denise Robinson.
Warren pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 10 years. He served part of his sentence in prison and part of it on probation on work release.
Warren walked away from work release at Volunteers of America, and the search is on to find him.
"Well I think anyone who made it through the department of corrections and then tries to walk away from work release, they certainly expose themselves to considerable more time," Robinson said. "And you have to question why they're doing that."
Warren is one of five men charged in the case. The others, including the triggerman, are serving sentences up to 245 years.
Warren could face additional charges when he's caught, including a possible escape charge, which carries up to 8 years, or failure to return to lawful detention, which carries up to 3 years.
