(INDIANAPOLIS) - A Central Indiana man said he is lucky to be alive and grateful for the anonymous Good Samaritans who rescued him from a fiery wreck.

Anthony Ingle, 27, spoke to Fox59 from his hospital bed Tuesday and recalled the accident.

He said he was driving home on Interstate 65 South in the early morning hours last Thursday, when he lost control of his Pontiac Grand AM at County Road 600 North. The car went up an embankment and struck the overpass. Ingle was trapped inside.

"I remember being on the interstate and the only thing I remember after that is actually being pulled out of my car," he said.

He remembered two men tried to pull him out as several others showed up to help. He said within seconds of getting out, his car went up in flames.

"They were using fire extinguishers to keep the flames off of me while they tried to pull me out," said Ingle. "They had to use a pry bar just to get my seat out to get me out."

Ingle suffered third degree burns on his right leg. He has cuts and bruises all over his body. But he is alive and grateful for his heroes. One man even gave him his jacket to keep warm.

"The name Adam's on the jacket from Ryan Logistics," Ingle said.

He hopes to return the jacket to "Adam" and thank him in person.

"I would just like to say how grateful I am that they did stop and try to help me get out, because a second later I probably wouldn't be here. I would probably be burnt to a crisp right now."

Police do not believe alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash. Ingle said he thinks he might have hit a slick spot on the interstate.
