Indiana Man Held In Arkansas On Murder Charge

Last updated on Monday, March 25, 2013

(LAFAYETTE) - Authorities in Arkansas are holding an Indiana man charged with suffocating his girlfriend and leaving her body in the bathtub before heading west with their three children.

Lafayette police were working Saturday to arrange the extradition of 32-year-old Misael Sanchez, who was charged with murder in the death of 25-year-old Marisol Arze-Lujan.

A police affidavit said her body was found Thursday night by officers who went to the family's apartment to check on her. She was last seen alive Wednesday.

The Journal & Courier reports police traced Sanchez's cell phone to Arkansas, where Clark County police detained him. The couple's children were with him, unharmed.

The affidavit alleges Sanchez told a relative he needed to leave town because he might have suffocated Arze-Lujan. An autopsy was scheduled for Saturday.
