Greenwood Police Chase Suspect In Stolen Vehicle

Last updated on Saturday, March 9, 2013

(GREENWOOD) - Greenwood Police say they have apprehended a teenage driver, who led them on a short police chase Friday morning.

The pursuit started near Howard Road and Main Street in Greenwood, then went north on Howard to Fry Road, where the suspected stolen SUV ended up crashing into a building under construction, just south and west of the Greenwood Park Mall.

Police were able to apprehend the teenage driver after a short chase on foot. The unidentified teen was taken to IU Health-Methodist Hospital with injuries not believe to be life-threatening.

Police say the SUV was driving fast enough to jump over a large drainage ditch where Howard tees into Fry and drove between two dumpsters before hitting the building.
