Bartholomew County Deputy Facing Charges

Last updated on Friday, March 8, 2013

(COLUMBUS) - A sheriff’s deputy who has served in Bartholomew County for 39 years may soon be out of a job, The Republic reports.

Deputy Robert "Robbie" Amos is facing charges filed by Bartholomew County Sheriff Mark Gorbett with the merit board there.

Amos is accused of violating procedures the department has for handling a weapon at a training exercise. The sheriff's department told the newspaper it was just one of a number of incidents involving Amos since 1993.

There's been no date set on when the merit board will consider the charges. Amos told the newspaper he intends to fight the charges.
