(WHITE COUNTY) - A semi driver was killed in a chain reaction crash on Interstate 65 in White County Friday.
Traffic on I-65 southbound had slowed down due to an earlier semi crash around 2:15 p.m. around the 189 mile marker. A Freightliner semi hauling auto parts failed to slow down for slowed traffic and struck the rear of an International semi driven by 37-year-old Kirk Long of Lafayette.
Long's semi was pushed into the back of a Brinks truck driven by 60-year-old Earl Hall of Beech Grove.
The driver of the Freightliner, 41-year-old Michael Foster of Edgewater, Florida, was killed in the crash.
Police say Long was not injured. Hall and a passenger in his Brinks truck, 37-year-old Edvardo Ruiz of Indianapolis were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
I-65 is closed at the 189 mile marker while police continue to investigate the crash. Traffic is being re-routed at the 201 mile marker onto US 24/US 231, south to SR 18, which returns to I-65.
