Troopers, Feds, Raid Corydon Doctor's Office

Last updated on Sunday, February 24, 2013

(CORYDON) - State troopers and federal agents have raided the offices of a southern Indiana physician who investigators say has had six patients die of prescription drug overdoses.

Troopers, federal drug agents and Harrison County investigators on Thursday raided the Corydon offices of obstetrician-gynecologist Paul Kelty after a judge approved a search warrant.

Kelty hasn't been charged, but Harrison County Prosecutor Otto Schalk says he's the focus of an ongoing investigation.

A probable cause affidavit used to obtain the search warrant says the investigation began after the state received complaints that Kelty was writing an unusually high number of narcotic prescriptions for Medicaid patients.

Schalk says six of Kelty's patients have died of drug overdoses since 2009 and several patients have reported sexual abuse.
