(UNDATED) - The future of the program is undetermined, but the state is taking applications from parents who might want to send their child to private school using a state voucher.

A ruling on the constitutionality of Indiana's voucher program is pending before the state Supreme Court, and a stanch opponent of vouchers was elected as state school superintendent last November.

But Lindsey Brown, the executive director of School Choice Indiana, says the program must continue under Indiana law and will operate as it has in the past unless the courts rule otherwise.

For the first time in the program's three-year history, there are no limits to the number of vouchers the state can issue. But Brown says there will be some limits since there is only so much space available in the state-approved private schools that accept vouchers

She also says the income limits have been modified slightly, and says parents can see the formula the state uses for awarding vouchers at www.myschoolvoucher.com.
