(INDIANAPOLIS) - A 15-year-old is in critical condition after being shot by a pizza delivery person, police said.

Police were dispatched to the 8400 block of East 36th Place, near Franklin Road and East 38th Street, around 7:15 p.m. Friday.

Metro police said the shooting happened during an apparent attempted robbery.

The driver was approached by two males, one who took the pizza from him and one who pointed a gun at him, police said.

The driver fired his own weapon at the suspect who was pointing the gun, and the other suspect dropped the pizza and ran, police said.

The injured teen was taken to Wishard Hospital in critical condition.

Police have not released any information on the second suspect.
