Ex-Teacher And Coach Accused Of Having Relationship With Player

Last updated on Wednesday, February 20, 2013

(BROOKVILLE) - A former Connersville High School teacher and assistant girls basketball coach faces a child seduction charge alleging he had a sexual relationship with one of his players.

29-year-old James Spivey of Brookville was arrested Tuesday and lodged in the Franklin County Jail. Records there didn't indicate whether he had an attorney.

Indiana State Police say Spivey and the student began a relationship shortly after the start of the basketball season and the two had sex at Spivey's home.

The Connersville News-Examiner reports Spivey was in his first year at the school and resigned Feb. 5, three days after administrators learned of the allegations. Administrators contacted police and Child Protective Services.
