Questions Remain After Woman's Autopsy

Last updated on Thursday, January 3, 2013

(COLUMBUS) - Preliminary autopsy results show the woman found in her SUV in a wooded area more than a week after she went missing had injuries consistent with a vehicle crash, The Republic of Columbus reports .

An official cause of death for Vonda Fivecoat, however, has not been determined because results from toxicology reports are pending, Bartholomew County Coroner Allen Smith told the newspaper. Those test results are expected in four to six weeks.

The time of death could not be determined either, Smith said, though investigators were assuming the 57-year-old died the day she went missing, Dec. 20. Her car was found on Dec. 28, and she was found inside.

Before she disappeared, she had called 911 seeking medical help. A Silver Alert was issued Dec. 26. Foul play has not been ruled out, the newspaper reported.
