Columbus Employees Fear They Could Lose Jobs

Last updated on Thursday, January 10, 2013

(COLUMBUS) - 70 Columbus restaurant employees are in fear they could lose their jobs in the near future.

WISH TV8 reports that employees at the Detour Columbus restaurant are waiting to hear if the Columbus Redevelopment Commission denies a request by the current leaseholder MSCB Group LLC.

The 70 current employees, and their families, will attend a meeting on Jan. 10 to voice support for Detour Columbus and to plead with the mayor to allow them to keep their jobs, according to a media release.

MSCB Group terminated a Pots and Pans Production as the manager for the restaurant in December, bringing in national restaurant group, Detour American Grille and Bar, as new management.

MSCM Group met with the Columbus Redevelopment Commission to request clarification of the current lease.

The request was not immediately acted on.

In the meantime, the 70 employees from the former Scotty's restaurant are being trained while the facility is remodeled for a planned reopen date of Jan. 14.

Employees fear if an agreement is not reached, the mayor will initiate litigation that could result in the firing of the 70 employees.
