2 Killed, 6 Hurt In Fiery New Haven Crash

Last updated on Wednesday, January 9, 2013

(NEW HAVEN) - Police near Fort Wayne say two people have died and at least six others have been injured in a fiery crash involving a semitrailer and five other vehicles.

The Journal Gazette reports westbound lanes of U.S. 30 just east of Interstate 469 remained closed late Tuesday afternoon more than six hours after the crash.

New Haven police spokesman Officer Scott Adam says emergency responders found a car on its roof engulfed in flames and its sole occupant dead at the scene. Also killed was someone traveling in one of three SUVs involved in the crash.

Adam says all of the vehicles were westbound in clear, dry conditions. He says it's not immediately clear how the pileup occurred.

The names of the victims weren't immediately released.
