Last updated on Sunday, December 16, 2012

(TERRE HAUTE) - Terre Haute marines built their very own Marine Toy Store for a great cause.

Gina Glaros, of the effort is to draw attention to the annual Toys for Tots fundraiser, which supports local underprivileged youth around the Vigo County.

The marines worked along with local volunteers, collection more than 6,500 toys.

They're going to give those toys to 2,000 families in need.

"We obviously live in one of the highest poverty rates in the state of Indiana but there has to be somebody that organizes the givers to those that need to receive and we're very fortunate to have a marine unit in our community that steps up to the plate and does it in an incredible way," Terre Haute Ministries Executive Director Reverend Honnalora Hubbard said.

Kids involved with the program will shop with a marine Wednesday.

They'll get to pick out three toys.

If you would like to help, you have until Wednesday to make your donation.

You can drop off toys or monetary donations to U.S. Marine Corps Reserve:

200 South Fruitridge Ave.
Terre Haute, IN 47803
(812) 235-8636

If you would like to make a donation, but aren't able to make it to the drop-off, you can always visit their website by clicking the link here.
