(COLUMBUS) - A Columbus man arrested after a toddler's death now faces drug charges.
Thomas Gorski, 30, was formally charged Tuesday with possession of a controlled substance, reckless possession of paraphernalia and maintaining a common nuisance. Those charges came the night before the deadline by which prosecutors had to file formal charges after Gorski was arrested in connection with the death of 19-month-old Evan McCue, 24-Hour News 8 news partner The Republic reports .
Gorski was preliminarily charged with neglect of a dependent resulting in death. The drug charges, however, will keep him in jail unless he posts $10,000 bond.
Prosecutors had already been granted a 72-hour extension on the usual 48 hour deadline to file charges.
The drug charges stem from evidence found as investigators were searching the home after Evan's death, according to court documents. The boy was found not breathing in his mother's home Nov. 25 . An autopsy shoed he died of a head injury.
Gorski had been living in the trailer with Rachel McCue and Evan in the Candlelight Village mobile home park.
Police are also investigating injuries Gorski's 1-year-old daughter recently sustained, the newspaper reports. The girl and her 3-year-old brother live with their mother, and Gorski has not been living with them recently.
