Last updated on Tuesday, November 6, 2012

(FRANKLIN) - A 19-year-old man was sentenced to 25 years in prison Monday for burglary and assaulting his ex-girlfriend.

WISH TV8 reports, Jacob Dale Smith is accused of breaking into his ex-girlfriend's home, dragging her out by her hair, and holding her over the edge of an overpass on I-65. Police say Smith burned the woman's arm with a cigarette and said, "I love you baby, I'll see you in hell."

The prosecuting attorney told the court Smith's criminal history and inability to comply with court orders and probation require him to fully execute his sentence. A letter from the victim was read in court that said the woman would fear for her and her family's life in Smith was released from jail.

Smith is sentenced to 25 years in prison with no probation.
