Teacher Accused Of Locking Student In Closet

(INDIANAPOLIS) - A Pike Township mother is seeking answers after she says her 9-year-old special-needs son was locked in a closet by his teacher.

Julian Grace , of WISH TV8 reports, According to the boy's mother, Kelly Washington, her son was so terrified that he did not want to go back to school at College Park Elementary on Monday.

Washington says her nine-year-old has a disability. She says she was told told the boy was being unruly when he was forced into the closet. Washington says school administration did not tell her about the incident until she confronted school leaders.

During that conversation the mother says the teacher added she does this all the time.

Washington, who works for the district bus service, says she is fearful of losing her job, but feels compelled to speak up for her son.

" I want people and other parents to be aware to speak up or speak out and ask their children have they ever been locked in a dark closet."

A spokesperson for the district says because of confidentially laws, the district will not be issuing a comment on the incident.
