(INDIANAPOLIS) - A man reported being shot twice on the Monon Trail Tuesday, police said.

TheIndyChannel.com staff reports, Indianapolis Metro Police said the shooting reportedly happened around 2 p.m. Tuesday on the trail, but police have not been able to find a crime scene.

"Detectives are investigating the victim's statement, but have yet to determine exactly what led to the possible shooting or where exactly it took place," said IMPD spokesman Kendale Adams.

The victim told police he was shot twice in the back then walked down the Monon to his home near 38th Street and Central Avenue, at which time his roommate took him to the Immediate Care on 86th Street.

Officials said the Immediate Care staff called police and an ambulance, and the man was taken to St. Vincent hospital.

Police said there is an injured person, but it is not clear whether he was actually shot.

Police said they questioned and released a possible suspect in Broad Ripple who turned out not to match the description the victim gave police.
