Last updated on Tuesday, November 6, 2012

(INDIANAPOLIS) - The former top civilian at the Naval Surface Warfare Center at Crane in southwestern Indiana is taking his experience to Ivy Tech.

Ivy Tech Community College says its corporate college branch has selected Duane Embree to be its national director of military defense initiatives.

Ivy Tech says Embree will serve as a liaison with Crane and the state's military installations at Muscatatuck and Camp Atterbury. He'll also work with the Indiana National Guard to help soldiers translate their military skills into certifications so they can find work in the private sector.

Embree for the last five years served as technical director at Crane. He led a workforce of 3,000 government employees and 2,000 contract employees.
