(INDIANAPOLIS) - A correctional officer killed himself Monday on the grounds of the Indiana Women’s prison.
Officers were sent to the prison Monday afternoon to investigate gunfire. Indiana State Police officials said a 10-year veteran of the Indiana Department of Corrections killed himself in a public access area on prison grounds.
The suicidal man used his department-issued weapon. No one else was injured.
The prison, located at 2595 Girls School Road, was locked down while police investigated.
