(ANDERSON) - Police have tracked down and taken into custody a man accused to trying to run over a police officer Wednesday night.
WISHTV8 reports, Madison County deputies took the man into custody in Randolph County. He suffered a bite from a K-9, and the vehicle he was in had a bullet hole through the windshield.
According to a news release, 28-year-old Dustin Mullins, attempted to run over Officer Warren Warren in a stolen 2002 Chevy Tahoe.
Police say Warren spotted the stolen vehicle stopped near the intersection of Van Buskirk Road and Raible Avenue just before 9:30 p.m. Wednesday. When Warren tried to arrest Mullins, Mullins reportedly drove towards the officer, hitting the squad car.
Officer Warren fired at Mullins with his gun, striking the vehicle.
Mullins escaped and drove south of Raible Avenue. The stolen vehicle was later discovered in the 2700 block of Arrow Avenue. Police set up a perimeter around the area but were unable to locate Mullins.
Mullins was also wanted for a warrant for bond revocation related to a child molesting case.
