Intoxicated Man Steals Officer's Car

Last updated on Tuesday, September 18, 2012

(ROCKPORT) - A Henderson man is accused of stealing a Rockport police officer’s car.
It happened two weeks ago after officers responded to a disturbance call near Main Street.

Nick LaGrange of WFIE reports, officers were looking for Nathan Horn of Henderson. Police say they couldn't find him initially, but then saw him sitting inside an officer's personal vehicle.

Police say they tried to stop Horn from driving away by using a squad car to block the stolen vehicle, but he backed into the squad car and took off.

Police say Horn crashed the car near the intersection of Eighth and Main and was arrested nearby.

"After the vehicle crashed, the gentleman fled from the scene there on Eighth Street. Spencer County Sheriff's Department came down to work the accident for us. While they were conducting that, I conducted a search of the city. A couple blocks away, I found Nathan Horn crouched behind another vehicle, and I placed him into custody at that time," said Dale Meredith with Rockport Police Chief.

Police also say Horn was intoxicated at the time of the incident.
