Gunshots Fired After Dispute Over Dog Exchange

Last updated on Sunday, September 9, 2012

(SOUTH BEND) - A dispute prompted by the sale of a dog led to gunshots that damaged a South Bend man’s auto and garage Thursday night in the 800 block of East Donald Street.

WSBT reports, South Bend police said the 27-year-old resident who reported the property damage told them he and the alleged shooter had been involved in a transaction in which the dog was sold and a speaker was provided as part of the payment. But the dog was returned, and an argument ensued over the speaker.

The victim reportedly told officers that the man he had argued with left in his vehicle about 11 p.m. and fired six to nine rounds as he was pulling away. The victim wasn't injured, but two of the shots struck his car and one hit his garage door.
