Cummins Distributor Adding Jobs At Indianapolis Plant

Last updated on Thursday, September 6, 2012

(INDIANAPOLIS) - New jobs are arriving soon to Indianapolis. Locally owned Cummins distributor Crosspoint Solutions is expanding to the Marion County area.

The electric auxiliary power unit company should bring up to 75 new jobs to area by 2016.

In a press release issued Wednesday, the Indianapolis headquartered company plans to invest $935,000 in preparing the 26,145 sq. ft. facility on 5511 W. 79th St. The building became completely operational last month.

"The Hoosier state continues to cultivate a business structure that spurs job creation. Its pro-business climate allows Indiana's manufacturing industry to remain robust and is strengthened by companies like Crosspoint," said Gov. Mitch Daniels.

According to the release, the new division of Crosspoint Solutions will sell a battery powered APU used in semi-truck sleeper cabs. The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered the company up to $950,000 in conditional tax credits depending on the jobs created by the company. Crosspoint will not benefit from these performance based tax credits until Hoosiers are hired and begin working.

"Cummins is a Hoosier-grown company leading the automotive manufacturing industry, and this investment demonstrates our mutual commitment to growing our already strong and diverse manufacturing sector," said Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard.

By 2015, Cummins expects to further expand the company to Seymour, adding up to 290 new jobs.
