(INDIANAPOLIS) - A Franklin Township teacher has been arrested, accused of trying to solicit a 15-year-old over the Internet.
IMPD officers placed Robert Roach under arrest at the request of Jefferson County, Wisc. police following a sting operation.
Officers also served a search warrant at Roach's home and will inspect his computer and property for any evidence.
According to the Indiana Department of Education database, Roach has been a licensed teacher for 28 years, currently licensed to teach Language Arts at Franklin Township Middle School East.
Roach was placed on administrative leave following his arrest Tuesday.
According to court documents obtained by Fox59, Roach is charged with seven "H" class felonies punishable by a fine up to $10,000 dollars, six years in prison, or a combination of penalties.
Superintendent Dr. Flora Reichanadter released the following statement Tuesday:
"The safety and welfare of our students and staff is of utmost importance. For this reason I am sharing the following information with you.
"This morning we were alerted of a pending investigation concerning the alleged behavior of a Middle School East teacher. The Franklin Township Community School Corporation has placed Mr. Bob Roach on administrative leave pending this investigation. There is no evidence or information that there was involvement with students of the Franklin Township Community School Corporation.
"We are cooperating fully with this investigation and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. At this time, the school district has no further information."
