(INDIANAPOLIS) - Indiana State Police discovered more than 100 marijuana plants on the first day of its annual eradication effort.
ISP's marijuana eradication campaign began Tuesday and will continue for several months, as the team searches by ground and air for indoor growing operations, cultivated marijuana plants and wild-growing marijuana throughout the state.
Tuesday, officers destroyed more than 100 marijuana plants in Scott, Harrison and Clark counties.
In past marijuana eradication efforts, police have removed thousands of plants, made hundreds of arrests and seized thousands of dollars' worth of assets.
In a news release Tuesday, state police said, "Marijuana use is a scourge to our society and your Indiana State Police wants to put all dope dealers out of business."
Police have asked anyone with information about anyone growing marijuana to call the ISP Sellersburg post at 800-872-6743.
