The report said Genrich approached the officers without speaking and began hitting them, fracturing Caine's jaw and bruising Hobbs' eye.

Caine was taken to Dukes Memorial Hospital then was transferred to Fort Wayne to undergo surgery.

Officer Hobbs returned to work after being examined and Officer Caine was taken to Dukes Memorial Hospital, than later transferred to Fort Wayne where he will undergo surgery.

Genrich was sentenced in Clinton County in June 2004 for possession of a dangerous device while incarcerated, battery, intimidation, mischief, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, residential entry and aggravated battery.

The MCF Internal Affairs Department is investigating the incident and will be seeking charges against Genrich through the Miami County Prosecutor's office.
