(INDIANAPOLIS) - A police officer's gun discharged when a man tried to take it from him, police said.

A Metro police detective was trying to arrest Justin Maltsberger, 25, Sunday morning when Maltsberger tried to disarm the officer, police said.

According to police, the struggle over the firearm caused the gun to discharge.

Neither man was injured by the bullet, but both the officer and Maltsberger were treated for minor injuries at the hospital, police said.

Maltsberger faces preliminary felony charges of battery on police and resisting law enforcement.

Maltsberger is currently being held at the Wishard Hospital detention facility.
