(INDIANAPOLIS) - Human remains were discovered in a shallow grave on the city's east side early Wednesday, Indianapolis Metro Police Department officers said.
Just after midnight, officers were dispatched to the 2800 block of North Gladstone Avenue on reports of a death investigation.
Emergency dispatchers said someone searching for a loose dog discovered what appeared to be a shallow grave and called 911.
When officers arrived, they verified that it was indeed a shallow grave containing human remains.
IMPD said the Marion County Coroner's Office will assist in the investigation to determine the cause of death and the person's identity.
