Anderson Police Arrest Bank Robber

(ANDERSON) - Anderson Police say they have arrested the suspect in an armed bank robbery that happened around 10 a.m. in Anderson Saturday morning.

The suspect fled the scene and into a nearby field.

Police released a K9 officer, Magnum, into the field to find the suspect, the K9 officer was shot by the suspect and was taken to a nearby animal hospital for surgery.

A SWAT team was able track the suspect, who surrendered to police without incident.

Officers are still searching the field for a weapon.

Original: Anderson Police have chased an alleged bank robbery suspect into a building near 8th and Baxter Streets in Anderson.

The suspect fled after robbing a bank on Nichols Ave., around 10 a.m. Saturday morning.

Anderson Police have requested the use of SWAT and a helicopter from either Indiana State Police or IMPD.

Shots were fired at some point after the bank robbery, but it is unclear who fired the shots or if anyone was hurt.
