Airport To Auction Off Odds And Ends

Last updated on Tuesday, August 14, 2012

(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Indianapolis Airport Authority (IAA) opened its operations building to the public Tuesday to auction off a variety of items.

After months, if not years, of accumulating different items in storage facilities and lost and found centers, Senior Director of Airport Operations Michael Medvescek told Fox 59 News that IAA is ready to say goodbye to all the old shuttle buses, x-ray machines, jewelry and snow plows it plans to sell.

"It's taken us almost two months now to prepare for this auction, to bring out all of the equipment that we've had in storage and buildings that we've had empty," Medvescek said. "A lot of man hours involved to prepare for this."

Medvescek said auctioning off the goods not only clears physical space, but clears assets off IAA's books. The money raised goes into the airport authority's general fund, he said.

The auction starts at 9 a.m. at the Maintenance and Operations Building at 2000 S. Banner Ave. in Indianapolis.

IAA hired AAA Auction Service to run the event in person and on-line. Live on-line bidding is available at www.aaaauctionservice.com.
