(WAYNE COUNTY) - State police discovered more than 100 marijuana plants thriving in a Wayne County field Friday.
A tip led marijuana eradication team members to a corn field north of U.S. 35 and east of the town of Economy.
Troopers found more than 100 plants, some towering 6 feet tall, with an estimated street value of more than $100,000, police said.
Investigators said the plants had been trimmed and were close to harvest.
"These plants are in good condition considering the severe drought conditions, meaning someone put a lot of work into them," Master Trooper Pete Cates said in a news release.
The plants were cut down by police and placed into evidence at the Pendleton State Police Post.
No arrests had been made as of Friday afternoon.
ISP's annual marijuana eradication campaign began Tuesday and will continue for several months as the team searches by ground and air for indoor growing operations, cultivated marijuana plants and wild-growing marijuana throughout the state.
Police asked anyone with information about anyone growing marijuana to call the ISP Sellersburg post at 800-872-6743.
